NATIVE TITLE AMENDMENT ACT 2009 The Native Title Amendment Act 2009 (the Act) was passed by the Australian Parliament on 14 September 2009 and received the Royal Assent on 17 September 2009. The majority of the provisions in the Act came into force on 18 September 2009. Determination of native title in and around Broome, Western Australia On 28 April 2006 the Federal Court of Australia made a determination in the long running native title application by the Rubibi Community over the town of Broome and its surrounds in the Kimberley region of WA. The determination brings to an end a case that has been running for more than ten years.
