Current and future impacts of climate change on housing, buildings and infrastructure

On 9 May 2017, the Senate sought an inquiry into the current and future impacts of climate change on housing, buildings and infrastructure from the Environment and Communications References Committee.

The Terms of Reference for the inquiry are broad and wide ranging, accounting for the full range of projected climate scenarios, and include the impact of the effects of climate change on:

  • the vulnerability of infrastructure in coastal areas
  • water supply and sewage treatment systems
  • transportation, including railways, roads and airports
  • public recreation and tourism facilities.

The Committee has invited councils to provide written submissions addressing issues that may be of relevance to them and the sector. Submissions should be lodged by 21 July 2017.

The Committee prefers to receive submissions online as an attached document through the Committee's website via www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/OnlineSubmission.

Further information, including alternative ways to provide submissions, are available on the Committee website. The Committee Secretariat can also be contacted on (02) 6277 3526.
