Is there someone in your local government area you think deserves to be recognized for making their community a better place?
The awards are turning 60 in 2020, and organisers from the National Australia Day Council plan to celebrate and acknowledge recipients from the past six decades.
There are four categories – Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year (for people aged 65 years and over), Young Australian of the Year (for people aged 15 to 30) and Australia’s Local Hero.
The awards operate at the state/territory level and also national. The national winners are chosen from the group of 32 state and territory recipients.
