ALGA’s policies and initiatives, at end of the day, are your policies and initiatives.
We propose frontline solutions which are informed by your communities and your work on the ground – and your input and guidance adds immeasurably to our effectiveness in progressing shared national objectives.
To help build an even better Australia post-pandemic, we’re calling for councils to submit motions for the 2022 National General Assembly to be held in Canberra on 19-22 June.
This event is an opportunity for Australia’s 537 councils to consider the current and emerging issues and opportunities, and advocate to the Federal Government on important issues for our communities.
The theme for the next year’s NGA is Partners in Progress, and will focus on how partnerships, particularly between the Federal Government and local governments, can tackle the immediate challenges facing communities and help us confidently prepare for the future.
Our online discussion paper will help you prepare your submissions, which can be lodged electronically up until 11.59pm AEDT on 25 March.
I encourage you to contribute your unique perspectives to what will be an important Nation General Assembly – and hope to see you there.
Linda Scott,
ALGA President
