5G safety fears ‘not justified by the scientific evidence’

The Federal Government is stepping up its campaign to counter misinformation about the safety of Fifth Generation (5G) mobile phone technology.

According to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications, there is no evidence that 5G causes adverse health impacts.

“This position is supported by decades of studies, as well as scientists and health authorities in Australia – such as the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) – and around the world, such as the World Health Organization (WHO).”

A recent Parliamentary Inquiry into 5G in Australia also advised that 5G network facilities – while generating low levels of electro-magnetic energy – are not hazardous to human health.

The Department reiterated that although 5G is new, the study and science of the radio-waves used to deliver that technology safely is well-established. This research has informed safety regulations for the technology.
