As the peak body representing local government in Australia, ALGA makes numerous submissions and presentations to a broad range of organisations and bodies. These include:

  • Parliamentary committees conducting inquiries of interest and relevance to local government
  • National organisations conducting inquiries and studies, such as the Productivity Commission
  • Political parties and individual parliamentarians
  • The Australian Government, its ministers, departments and agencies
  • International bodies and agencies

These submissions advance the interests of local government and address issues of concern to councils and the communities they collectively serve.

The Australian Local Government Association submission to Infrastructure Australia

… The submission while acknowledging the importance of nationally significant infrastructure highlights the importance of local community infrastructure for the well being of communities and the need to address the growing backlog. It also supports the proposal to invest in a new national broadband network.

'ALGA submission to the Regional Telecommunications Independent Review Committee

… ALGA has provided a submission to the Committee, chaired by Dr Bill Glasson, about the adequacy of telecommunications in regional and rural Australia, ahead of the Committee's expected report to the Federal Government in August 2008.

Housing Affordability Fund
