Boost for mental health, domestic violence support services

A new website run by Beyond Blue and funded to the tune of $10 million by the Federal Government has been set up to support people through the coronavirus pandemic.

The Coronavirus Mental Wellbeing Support Service includes helpful information covering a range of topics such as coping with loneliness and isolation, managing your mental health if you have the virus, ways to deal with job loss and financial worries, supporting friends and family, coping as a healthcare worker, and support for essential service workers and small businesses.

Beyond Blue’s dedicated online forum can also help people to connect with and learn from others, share experiences and exchange tips and messages during the Covid-19 crisis.

An additional $14 million in Commonwealth aid is going to mental health support providers, including $5 million for Lifeline and $2 million for the Kids Helpline.

Funding has also been expanded for telehealth and domestic violence support services.
