Council views wanted on filling Australia’s IoT skills gap

IoT Alliance Australia wants to understand what skills developments are needed to advance the adoption of Internet of Things technologies.

The peak industry body is working with education providers to develop an IoT “skills barometer” and to use this to identify where to focus development of the IoT skills needed in Australia.

The IOT skills barometer is designed to see if organisations like councils experience a skills-gap with regards to adopting IoT solutions.

The survey has eight to 12 questions, depending on the answers provided, and should take no longer than eight or nine minutes to complete.

The alliance will isolate the council responses and share the results.

It will inform local governments as to which councils are using IoT and for what purpose, how important it is for them in their future strategies, and whether they are missing any skills that university and higher education could remedy.
