Disaster assistance authorised for flood-affected LGAs

Local government areas affected by severe storms and flooding in Queensland and NSW are now eligible to receive Federal Government Assistance.

They include the Gold Coast, Logan, Goondiwindi, Lockyer Valley, Quilpie, Southern Downs, and Scenic Rim LGAs in Queensland and more than 30 LGAs in NSW.

NSW local government areas in and around Sydney that are eligible for support through the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) and the Disaster Recovery Allowance (DRA) include Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Camden, Campbelltown, Canterbury Bankstown, Cumberland, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Hornsby, Inner West, Ku-ring-gai, Liverpool, Northern Beaches, Parramatta, Penrith, Sutherland, The Hills, and Wollondilly.

Seventeen LGAs in regional NSW also are eligible for assistance, including Armidale, Bellingen, Central Coast, Cessnock City, Clarence Valley, Coffs Harbour, Dungog, Hawkesbury, Kempsey, Lake Macquarie, Maitland City, Mid-Coast, Nambucca Valley, Newcastle City, Port Macquarie-Hastings, Port Stephens, and Tenterfield.

Federal Emergency Management Minister David Littleproud said: “These packages will provide much-needed assistance to those who had suffered a significant loss, including a severely damaged or destroyed home, serious injury, or who have lost a family member.”
