Federal ministerial responses to NGA motions available online

Federal ministerial responses to motions submitted by councils for debate at the 2020 National General Assembly have been published on ALGA’s website.

Although the 2020 NGA was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, ALGA agreed to consider the 153 motions that had been submitted by councils for debate.

After deliberations by the Board of Directors in late July, ALGA forwarded most of the motions to the relevant federal government ministers for their consideration and advice.

Some motions that related to state government rather than federal Government issues were sent to state and territory local government associations for their consideration.

A small number were not progressed as they were either not a local government issue or sought to advance the advocacy of a third party.

The letters from the 10 Federal Government ministers can be read on the ALGA webpage.
