Local Recovery Fund opens for jobs and upskilling projects

Applications have opened for local groups and organisations to secure federal funding to develop reskilling, upskilling and employment projects.

The Federal Government intends the Local Recovery Fund to help boost employment prospects across 25 regions impacted by Covid-19.

Local groups and organisations can apply to receive funding ranging from $10,000 to $200,000, to develop projects, including mentoring, training and reskilling in line with local employment needs.

The Local Recovery Fund is a component of the Local Jobs Program – and will fund projects, or parts of larger projects, that are not being supported through existing programs or activities.

Twenty-five “employment facilitators” have been engaged to help connect job seekers to local employment opportunities.

The facilitators will chair local “jobs and skills taskforces” comprising local employers, employment and training providers and other local stakeholders who will collaborate and develop projects.

Project funding will be available from mid-December 2020. Click here for details.
