Rural youth voices on the Heywire

Residents aged 16-22 in regional Australia are invited to share their life experiences and win the chance to be featured on the ABC and visit Canberra for the Heywire Regional Youth Summit in February 2020.

There’s also up to $10,000 in seed funding to help start youth-developed projects in regional areas.

Applicants can tell their story in any way they wish – such as text, video, audio or a photo – as long as they live outside the big cities.

The judges will then choose 40 winners for an all-expenses-paid trip to the youth summit in Canberra, and join training sessions.

Previous winners have used Heywire to make changes in their communities by highlighting topics including mental health, youth unemployment, and agriculture.

Applications close 16 September 2019.
