South-east Qld councils to share $50m state recovery package

Twelve Queensland councils will receive funding to fast-track 63 infrastructure and community asset projects across the state’s populous south-east region.

The projects – which include a new BMX precinct at Brendale, a foreshore revitalisation at Mooloolaba, Beenleigh CBD improvements, and a new path and boardwalk on North Stradbroke Island – are being funded under the State Government’s $50 million Unite and Recover Community Stimulus Package announced in June.

Minister for Local Government Stirling Hinchliffe said the package will help councils build new and upgraded infrastructure and boost their communities’ economies.

“From Noosa to the Gold Coast and from Toowoomba to Moreton Bay, councils estimate more than 1500 jobs will be created or supported through the 63 projects,” he said.
