Submissions sought for airports review

Councils that operate airports or have airports within their Local Government Areas are invited to make submissions to the National Airports Safeguarding Framework.

The National Airports Safeguarding Advisory Group seeks feedback from various parties about how the framework has been employed since 2012, and has developed a Terms of Reference to guide the review.

The document has implications for anyone working in sectors including land-use planning and building and engineering, and contains guiding principles relating to areas such as aircraft noise, lighting distractions, medical/emergency helicopter landing sites, and public safety areas near runway ends.

Anyone with general questions about airport safeguarding nationally can contact Sharyn Owen, Director-Airport Safeguarding, at safeguarding@infrastructure.gov.au or on (02) 6274 6125.

Submissions are due 5pm AEDST Friday 22 November either via email or post.
