Tas councils and state govt. working to free up DA processes

The Tasmanian State Government will work with councils and the Tasmanian Planning Commission to ensure assessment and approvals processes are kept open and applications can continue to be processed during coronavirus restrictions.

Planning Minister Roger Jaensch said modifying processes to allow planning, development and consultation to continue in the health emergency would mean the economy could return to normal as quickly as possible once current restrictions were eased.

He said documents are already being exhibited online for public information and comment, and the timeframes for public comment on these documents have been extended by five weeks.”

The Tasmanian government is also expanding the criteria of its $150 million local government loans program to include all measures taken by councils as a response to, or as a result of, the impacts of Covid-19. An updated guideline and fact sheet for the Program can be found here.
