The Australian Taxation Office advises councils that AUSkey and Manage ABN Connections will be retired at the end of March 2020 and replaced by myGovID and Relationship Authorisation Manager.
MyGovID is a new way to prove your identity online, whereby users confirm their identity once to access government online services.
The Relationship Authorisation Manager is an authorisation service which will help manage who can act for your Council when accessing government online services.
“These new services will give you streamlined, flexible and secure access to government online services,” ATO’s Assistant Commissioner Jimmy Tzimopoulos said.
“If you are an AUSkey holder for your Council, you can start to get ready now by downloading and setting up your own myGovID.”
If you are the authorised contact for your Council, you can also prepare for the move by:
- checking your agency’s associate details are up-to-date in the Australian Business Register
- checking your AUSkey holders are correct in Access Manager
- ensuring that your AUSkey holders have downloaded and set up their own myGovID
- keeping a list of the new myGovID names in preparation for the move to Relationship Authorisation Manager.
“The ATO will be emailing government entities in early 2020 to help you make the move,” Mr Tzimopoulos added.
