Third tranche of NSW projects up for fast-track assessment

A major rezoning to create new housing in the Hills Shire Council area of Greater Western Sydney is among the latest tranche of projects to undergo fast-tracked assessment in NSW.

The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) announced the third tranche of fast-tracked assessments on 21 June, with all 19 projects to be determined by 17 July.

The program’s aim is to redirect resources within DPIE to accelerate the assessment and determination of projects that inject money into the NSW economy and keep people in jobs during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The first tranche of projects to be assessed under the Planning System Acceleration Program were announced on  28 April 2020 and determined by 21 May, within the four-week determination target.

A further 24 projects were announced in the second tranche of the program on 22 May 2020 and determined by 18 June.
